2 Timothy 3:6-9 (The Message)
6-9These are the kind of people who smooth-talk themselves into the homes of unstable and needy women and take advantage of them; women who, depressed by their sinfulness, take up with every new religious fad that calls itself "truth." They get exploited every time and never really learn. These men are like those old Egyptian frauds Jannes and Jambres, who challenged Moses. They were rejects from the faith, twisted in their thinking, defying truth itself. But nothing will come of these latest impostors. Everyone will see through them, just as people saw through that Egyptian hoax.
i was alerted this morning as pastor rudy showed me a video about a new teaching by oprah.
it is a false teaching and felt it necessary to alert you as well as send an email to others incase they didn't get on the blog.
the video can be found on pastor troy's blog, www.ravenoutreach.blogspot.com
i don't even want it on here or i would embed it.
i'd be concerned that someone would watch it and be swayed by it.
i don't necessarily agree with the ending of the video either, as it is self-promoting a book to purchase against the video...
the bible is enough of a book to go against it.
but again, the words spoken by oprah are still her words and i am so saddened by it.
please pray for her that she would repent and live for CHRIST and that she would not lead others away from JESUS through this false teaching.
please consider praying with me that hearts and minds would turn away from things of this world and the subtleness of satan and that hearts and minds would turn towards JESUS!
may this find you steadfast in faith, unwaveringly.

I am always amazed how religion in it self feels threatened when someone is trying to help others. is it so radicle to believe that there could be several paths leading to God? I mean really, could it be that religion in its current state is not reaching the masses for a reason? criticizing someone for a saying try to find god by means of meditation and allowing them to think a different way to achieve the same result is not satanic. Now I realize there is a monetary contribution, but that is clear that without it how else would it be produced to reach the masses? I know that most churches rely on their followers to make contributions so that they may pay rent and the leaflets to continue spreading the word, what is wrong with tolle? Your comment should be a little more open to other possibities. I don't think Oprah needs your prayers for forgiveness. besides she is not telling people to give up their faith, rather lets add to it. you obviously missed that point. We are not living in 800 ac. we are in a period of much turmoil and religion is not reaching the masses because of the archaic teachings and the opression it serves.
hi there anonymous... it's lori. religion should be threatened... i don't follow a religion, it's my relationship with JESUS CHRIST and a follower of HIM do I serve and does my heart break over the audacity of someone in power speaking lies into the lives of millions of women and children against JESUS. As you may or may not know, i don't belong to a "church" as you define "church" or rely on followers to make contributions to pay my rent or buy me leaflets to continue spreading the word. I pray without ceasing for those that haven't come into relationship with JESUS and won't stop praying for you or oprah either. If you have been disappointed by "religion" then we have something in common. JESUS did reach the masses and is reaching the masses... one person at a time. That is whom I follow. Blessings. Jesus said,
"I am the truth, the way and the life, no one comes to the father except through me."
Hi it's Pastor Rudy. I think it's interesting that you feel like you have to post anonymously to share your views. In Matthew 7 Jesus specifically addresses this issue. The Narrow and Wide Gates
13"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14But small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." JESUS came because HE loved you but you can only receive his love through repentance. This is the problem that many in the emerging church have with the gospel message. Repentance is the key to accepting what JESUS did for you. No one likes to think of themselves as a sinner. If they do, then they hold themselves guilty and think that they would have to give something up. Remember, it's not about you. JESUS said you must be truly born again to see the kingdom of GOD. That means dying to yourself. In a me society this is contrary to the popular belief even in todays popular church. Remember Exodus 32 where the people rose up and told Aaron to build them a God they could follow? Not the God that had laws, rules... doesn't this sound like anything you see in the "church" today? Pastors like Rob Bell creating that golden calf that is easy for people to follow... or oprah creating a god that is in your own image without fault. This is all against Christ and his message. Hence, anti-Christ. There is only one path that leads to salvation. That is repentance of your sins and immediately following JESUS Christ no matter how hard or unpopular that may be.
Wow, I just spent an hour writing to the both of you and tried to access my google account and everything got erased. Oh well, i guess I should have been a little more careful and copied it before moving on. In any case I will make this brief. i could not post any other way earlier because I was on my PPC while searching for the Tolle article when I came across your page. i am moved by both of you. Enough so that I will attempt to gain a better understanding of why it is so wrong this way of getting closer to GOD. Who ever he is. First let me tell you about me. I am Manny. Live in L.A. by way of NYC. I am married to a wonderful wife and I am a father of 2. Born and raised in El barrio, raised Catholic. Educated in NY and hold a degree in the Arts. Employed by a major corporation and make a pretty good salary. I am curious though with Lori. Lori is it right to call someone a liar? Does your belief entitle you to be the judge of someone else? For I believe in all that GOD is he is not judgmental. And would stand to influence another by some other way. I think that GOD would agree calling someone a liar is an accusation. So by that stand point I could say that you could be a hypocrite because GOD would not make such a statement. you are not in a position to judge anyone and neither am I. The topic at hand with Oprah is subjective. they clearly stated this and ended the episode with the same statement. One has a choice to make anytime they choose to. I think you mean well. But the comment is too direct and your words need to be a little more sensitive. Use your intellect to get your point across.
Pastor Rudy, I can see by your page that you and many people have helped many. Its great and I pray for you as well to continue the path in helping others. I am for one not a man of the book, clothe. I am grateful for my life and my family. I believe in a higher power and I am starting to make progress with my exploration with my wife to find out who GOD is. Is that not the point? Who is GOD?! I am not being cynical or trying to change the way you preach. But I can not help but to ask questions. Man knows the difference between right and wrong. Before you made your choice what did you do? Where were you? Who were you? What was your daily life like before excepting the religion you are in now? I am curious. Were you married? How did you find GOD? Were you looking for him?
So, now this is where I want nothing more than your answers. not the book or any passages from the Bible.
7:36PM
Hi Manny, it's lori. Thanks for the conversation. To let you know about me, I too was raised catholic, have a wonderful marriage (to Pastor Rudy) and am a mother of 3 and went to college at an art school in Los Angeles, CA... not the same background as you, but there are similarities. It's tough for me to answer you without scripture because of the power of God's word... it even says that the message of the cross is foolishness to those on the pathway of destruction. Do I need to answer your questions without scripture? Sure, if you'd like... but I have to wonder why you are hesitant to hearing scripture in the first place? Let me scroll down and read your questions/comments, hold on. Okay, first... My intention of posting the oprah comment above comes from my caring deeply about others, especially mothers and children and because of my faith in GOD and personal relationship with JESUS I really feel that I can't deny HIM by not commenting on the lies (yes, lies) that are spewing all over the world that there are many ways to GOD. As a follower of CHRIST it breaks my heart that many mothers are tuning in to believe that they are without sin and that they are their own god because she says so. JESUS contradicts that in so many ways. Manny, I could be more sensitive with my words... but it wouldn't change the feeling i have about those "awakenings" that are contrary to the bible. Like I said, I too was raised catholic and although I attended church and youth group and went through all the sacraments and catholic high school and confession regularly, i didn't (unfortunately) read the bible daily nor feel the need too. I think I read it cover to cover freshman year but only to get an "A" in religion class. crazy. anyhow, you said that you aren't a man of the book, so i pray that you would seek out GOD by reading the bible yourself rather than rely on the new earth book. I could give you a scripture about not leaning on the wisdom of this world but i told you i wouldn't...let me scroll and see what else...You are right that I am not in a position to judge sort of... there's a scripture in matthew about that too... because if i was drinking alcohol let's say and telling an alcoholic to stop drinking then that would be a hypocrite, right? but if i was sober and warned an alcoholic to stop drinking, would that be judging? i feel that way when i see people smoking... having been healed of cancer (few years back) and then seeing young women smoking is it better in your mind for me to not "judge" them or due to my experience shouldn't i at least warn them that it's not worth it? that the impending danger of perhaps contracting cancer is at the very least my responsibility to urge them, please, don't smoke! (no, i didn't have "lung" cancer, but it's a good example and i was healed of it). i feel the same way about the oprah new earth teaching. i used to watch oprah, i used to buy all her books... i was living a life like millions of other people who even attend "church" like i did while i was watching her show... was a "saved" person? thought i was. i had all the books. i had the perfect life... but something was missing and it was JESUS. i didn't find him in the book of the month club or even in the christian book of the month clubs... i found him in the faces of the families after katrina praising GOD that HE took everything away so that they could be free to minister to others, not tied down to things of this world but rather free to reach out and spread the gospel... I find JESUS with the poor whom i serve week after week after the LORD fills our driveway with literally thousands of pounds of food each week.. i found him in the garbage dumps of mexico and out on the streets of my city in the homeless mother's eyes and the shoeless children living on skid row in los angeles. i found him while i was young and pregnant and hours away from going to an abortion clinic but first crying out to GOD knowing as a catholic it was wrong and literally crying alone in my room, "GOD! I don't know what to do, but i know this isn't right, i don't want to have an abortion, please help me, i don't have the answers" and hearing that still small voice back saying to me, "I will never leave you." I've found JESUS through my children holding us accountable when they were youngsters (8 and 10) and asking us if there were any hungry children in our city and us answering them, yes... and them looking up at us with that child-like faith and big beautiful brown eyes saying, "then why aren't we feeding them?" For me, it was coming to the end of myself and allowing HIM to be magnified in my everyday and realizing what his crucifixion meant, personally. Manny, did you know that if you were the absolutely only person on this earth, that JESUS still would have died on that cross, taken all of those beatings just for you? so that you could be the man he created you to be? you could be the husband, father, servant? that he was bruised for your transgressions, crushed for your inequities? that the price has already been paid by JESUS for you? that you don't need to buy a new earth book to find that? that is the JESUS i know. my hope is that you will come to know him too. you say you are seeking god or starting to make progress with your exploration with your wife, hallelujah! ask HIM. Invite JESUS into your marriage, into your heart, into your home, into your life. then the book will make sense... the bible that is... and JESUS is more than enough. He's greater than my dis-ease, more powerful than cancer, He's the creator, redeemer, alpha and omega. And you know what? He loves you right where you are at... that's the beautiful thing... seek HIM.
hi lori and pastor rudi,
sorry it took a few days to get back to you both. been extremely busy at work. I think I have some information that may clear up some mis-information. first let me say this about Tolle, he is not addressing anything new. in the 60's and early 70's there was this spirtual movement happening here in the US. It was something called NEW AGE religion or what some religious scholars called Mysticism, (sp?) these new ideas tried to bring together a practice and a faith together. Teachings of the far east and what we have here whether chritianity or catholic faith and merge the two. this would send the practiced faith here in an uproar. because it did not follow the doctrines as you have read and believe. I am reading such a book called "Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East. I am only on the 4th chapter in a series of 6 books. it is interesting because the accounts are written on a first person account from the author, Baird T, Spalding. In it he tells of his travels to a different place in around 1894. The Far East. the masters he speaks of believed in Christ, the son of God. all in all I will keep you abreast of what I am reading and how I think it relates to Tolle. Maybe as it relates to the bible and or Jesus. stay well and maybe it could be some interesting reading. mc
Hi Manny~
I hope this finds you well and that you are reading the BIBLE. Try it. Seek the face of God today~ open the word. Dive into it. Start with the gospels if you must as I know you learned of them in your Catholic upbringing. Just start reading it. Fear not. It's good reading. My prayer today is that you ask the true GOD to reveal HIMSELF to you on this day, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, AMEN.
