Miracles (Part 2)Bobby ChanceDec 20, 2005
Hey Everyone,
OOPS! The first part of this missions praise report was sent out before I was finished. Here is the conclusion to what God did for the children in Tijuana.
As Brian and the team prayed and drove to the border crossing, the border guard gave them a "green light," the official go-ahead to cross into Mexico with the trailer full of new toys. WOO HOO. God is faithful. We knew He would not let the children be disappointed.
Later that night, we arrived near the border with the bus loaded down. The chances were near zero the guards would let that bus across. Our ministry team of about 20 at the time, put all the toys, clothes and food as low down in the bus as possible and all climbed in, heading straight for the border.
As I drove the bus toward the crossing gate, my heart lept... the guard was giving us a green light to cross. But just as I gunned the bus to cross, several guards with bright lights began to motion for us to pull over. Suddenly, an all terrain vehicle with flashing red and blue lights came upon me from behind. We had to stop and be searched. Everyone bagan to pray and call on Jesus!!
At first, the guards were very demanding and questioned us about the bus and why we were there in Mexico. Rudy Gonzalez, a former Marine who had served in Desert Storm, and I began to reason with the guards and implore them to let us cross. The two guards were in disagreement. One wanted to let us go and the other wanted to turn us back.
Suddenly, the favor of the Lord broke through and both guards motioned for us to go ahead into the city to take the bus and "goodies" for the children. Our God is an awesome God!!
Early Saturday morning, our Streetwise Ministry team grew to 77 volunteers. We set up a huge bounce house, cooked 1,100 hot dogs, helium filled balloons and threw a Jesus Birthday party for over 600 children.
We ministered in music and ministered to the kids with hugs, smiles and love. Many of them are so very poor and neglected. For many of the children, the gifts they received at the party will be the only gift they get at Christmas.
Rudy took 30 faithful team members and took the bus to the garbage dump in Tijuana where many children live. They made up about 100 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and took a few toys for the children. They were not prepared for what happened next.
As they entered the garbage dump in the bus, children from the dump began to run alongside the bus, waving their hands in the air, hoping to receive something. As the crowd of running children grew, they stopped the bus and began to minister to the forgotten and discarded children.
There were so many hungry kids at the dump, Rudy and the team began to tear the sandwiches in half so they could have enough. They quickly ran out of toys for them, so they took off their "Santa hats" and gave them away, along with anything else thye could give to the kids.
Their hearts were broken. They stood in the stench and filfth of the garbage dump and preached a message of Jesus' Salvation that was free for the taking. One whole family, with tears streaming down their faces, accepted Jesus as Lord. Many of the discarded children at the dump also prayed to be saved.
Rudy and the team promised to return as soon as possible with more food, toys and clothing for those at the dump. As they returned to the party at the church, they wept tears of compassion for the "forgotten little ones".
As we wrapped up the Jesus Birthday Party, children and some adults hugged and kissed us and thanked us for blessing them. We told them it was all because of Jesus.
Brian Bennet and his team and Dot, Dakota and I took toys to about 100 children at Lily of the Valley orphanage. They were so blessed to receive them. As night fell, we headed toward the border to cross back into the USA. God had done His Miracles... No, not on 34th street... but in a "no-name" area of Mexico where the cries of the children had come up to Him.
God has not forgotten the families and children living in squalor and poverty in Mexico. We can not forget them either. I pray He stirs all of our hearts and burdens us with His Heart as Jesus stated in Luke 4:18, "He has anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted."
Special thanks to Hope Chapel Santa Rosa, UGO4GOD, and Maddie and CeeCee Gonzalez. Also, thanks to you all for your prayers and support. You keep us "Going For Jesus."
If you would like to make a special Christmas or end of the year gift to Streetwise, please do so today. For all of you who give online now through December 31st, we would like to give you the Message America cd - just be sure to mention it when you give.
We pray you have a very merry Christmas! Bless someone today with your kindness - sometimes a simple smile is all someone needs!
