city kidz this saturday opportunity to preach the gospel!

Hi Everyone! Here is an email from Brian - please pass it on to others involved in FCF if you happen to see them or you know they don't have an email address......Please let me know if you can help! Thank you! ann

Good day church!

Yes, City Kidz will take place this Saturday from 10am – 5pm at Julliard Park on Santa Rosa Avenue (cross street: Sonoma Avenue—across from the Luther Burbank Gardens). For the past 4-5 years, Christian churches in Santa Rosa have conducted this event as an outreach to families and children.

It might help to understand that City Kids was the prayed-about response of the Sonoma County Pastors Prayer and Ministry Alliance to the Annual Santa Rosa Gay Pride Parade. Rather than stand on the streets holding protest signs against the homosexual community, the SCPPMA asked the Lord to tell them what they could do in order to be a light to dispel the darkness that permeated the city. City Kids and Spring Clean were the answer to that prayer. As a footnote, there is no longer a Santa Rosa Gay Pride Parade. God sent His light to dispel darkness, and we have the privilege of helping to continue to gain ground for Christ as we are empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Last year, there were over 30 churches that served—providing free games and food and drink for those who participated, giving away over 2000 backpacks full of school supplies, and sharing the gospel with both kids and adults. There were 150 people who made decisions for Christ and then were handed off to local churches to be discipled.

This year, there are only 16 churches signed up to help. I have volunteered FCF to help Gateway man the two booths that they have committed to. We are looking for people who would be willing to man a shift in a booth (last year, that meant sitting in a lawn chair and handing kids hoops or bean bags to play the games and then handing out candy and tracts to all who participate). In addition, we are looking for a few volunteers who would be willing to be trained to share the gospel with small groups of kids (approximately 7-8 per group). The training will take place at 10am on Saturday morning.

I will plan on being at Julliard Park at 9am to help Pastor Phil set up the booths. I will also plan on being at the Festival until around 1:30pm as I am officiating a wedding at 3pm. Mike Rodriguez has volunteered to be out at the booth in the afternoon (1-5) and to help Pastor Phil take down the booth at days end. Also, it might be of particular interest to you:

Your pastor has been volunteered to man the “Blast-a-pastor” booth from 11:00am until 11:15am and then again from 11:30am to 11:45am (unless I can commission another pastor to step in for one of the shifts!). This will be a great chance for all of you to get out all of your aggression that you have been holding against me or other pastors who have proven to be human in your past. I will volunteer to take the blast for others. So come out at least to see your pastor get “pie-d”!

Would you consider being part of what God is doing this Saturday? Call (or email) Ann and let her know when you might be available to participate. And invite kids that you know to come out and be a part of what God will be doing that day.

Serving Him together-

Pastor Brian

Colossians 4:2-6 (NIV)—“2Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”
