More arrests in attempted murder
Police investigating what they say was the attempted murder of two men in the Santa Rosa Junior College neighborhood last week have made two additional arrests in the case, both involving teen-agers.
Rafael Peraza, 19, was arrested leaving his Santa Rosa home, and a second youth, aged 17, was arrested near his home in a different part of the city as police were searching their residences Wednesday, authorities said.
Detectives seized evidence from both locations that they believe links the suspects to the daylight assault on two 21-year-olds on Carrillo Street near Morgan Street on Sept. 4.
One of the two victims was badly injured in the incident, sustaining severe head injuries, police said.
Police have said they believe the attack was gang-related and that it’s possible the victims, whose names have been withheld, have gang affiliations.
The first suspect, Francisco Villagran Gutierrez, 21, was arrested the day following the assault after authorities tracked him to Suisun City, where he maintains one of two residences, police said.
All three suspects have been booked for suspicion of attempted murder and participation in a gang crime.
Both adults are being held in the Sonoma County Jail on no-bail holds, jail personnel said.
The younger suspect, whose name was not released because of his age, was booked into the Sonoma County Juvenile Hall, authorities said.
