Pappagos Court Magic

Once again magic came to Pappagos Court last night. Thanks to Hope West, and the efforts of Pastor Russ, there was groceries enough for 30 families, purchased thru the Redwood Food Bank. Along with the food was clothes and toys for the families to pick from. Lots of candy for the children, enough for the adults. Prayers abounded for any in need.

After all the goods were distributed, we set off caroling thru the neighborhood not ready to leave our new friends. We were able to get just a couple of the locals to join in our parade. We continued to wish the best to all that were still out in the night.

Much to our surprise as we turned a corner we are met by a candlelight procession of the locals celebrating the eighth night of  nine consecutive nights of a traditional festivity know as 'Las Posadas'.

Las Posadas is the re-enactment of the holy family's quest for lodging in Bethlehem. Songs were being sung in spanish, and we all tried to sing along. Brian Bennet was awesome as he belted out his best effort. After being turned away at two homes saying there was no room available, we proceeded to the third stop and are told there is no room available in the posada (inn), but the holy family is welcome to take refuge in the stable.

As we gathered ourselves up to leave, children started telling us "there is food now". "Stay and share with us" they told me. As we watched, food was brought out for all to share. Wonderful hand made tortilla's with chicken, lettuce, and cheese, still warm from the overn. Then wonderful warm hot chocolate with a hint of cinnamon.

This was not a coincidence. God had given us the chance to peak into the life of this small neighborhood. We had gone to share with them, and they had in return, given back to us.
What a wonderful gift we recieved. How could this have been planned any better? Little did we know what the Lord had in mind for us. He is a wonderful God!!

Thank you to all that keep this ministry alive. Thank you to Hope West that have made great  strides to make available the food that is the tool for us to get the Lords word out there. I pray that the Lord continues to work thru us as we reach out to the families of Pappagos Court.

Bless you all as we go forward in His name.
May you and your families have a blessed holiday.
Tonie
