The lemonade stand was awesome. The Iovino kids (Austin, Amber and Andrew) came and helped for a couple of hours. One of their friends (Dylan) also came, it was great for him to see people so willing to give.
One of our first customers was a lady who worked at Home Depot. She said "Well I am giving you this to start off with" it was a $20 bill, "then I will have a couple of cookies and muffins for some of the gals at work" then she put in another $5.
People were just so generous and willing. We had a homeless lady come by (while I was on a bathroom run), she told the kids she didn't have any money but she wanted our cans from our sodas and they made sure to give her a couple of cookies and they handed out a flyer I had made up with information on our trips and web sites. We had another lady come up, she drove an old green truck, jumped out and said this is all I have and emptied all her change into the tub. We had some people just stop by and give us money, and a lot of people honked at us and waved. We were playing the Candle on the radio and in the beginning we were waving at people, but after awhile we decided we would start praising the Lord with our hands up in the air. It was awesome to see God at work. Joshua really thought that people were going to be lined up and we would be done within an hour. But that wasn't God's plan, we probably only had about 30 people stop by. We sold about 2 1/2 gallons of lemonade and about 3 dozen cookies, muffins and brownies. You can tell God was working because we raised $206.06 and then we took the rest to church and raised another $87.95 with still at least 5 dozen cookies left over. So the total amount raised was $284.01 from a little ole Lemonade Stand on W. 3rd St. in Santa Rosa, California. I know God is going to do wonders with the money the kids raised. I thank God for the kids that they are so willing and able to do whatever it takes. So if anyone ever says kids can't make a difference, I know they can.
