How can I help?

This question is on our voicemail, email, everywhere we go, people want to help. If you want to know or have a good answer, blog it here! This is what God is prompting me to do, how about you?

PRAY. PLEASE PRAY. PRAY for the hurting, the broken, the desperate people of Louisiana and now Texas. Pray that God will comfort them, that these people will seek him and that their joy will be restored. Pray without ceasing. Pray ten times a day and 10 times a night. Pray with others, pray alone, pray out loud, shout it or whisper. Journal your prayers and see how God answers them. Join others in prayer, contact Carrie Tate from Hope Chapel or email me and I'll give you the info on how to join her prayer group: Lori@UGO4GOD.com

Start a prayer group! Wherever two or more are gathered God hears your prayer. Post a prayer on the blog, someone (Hundreds are hitting this blog daily) will hear you and join you in prayer. If someone you know doesn't know Jesus but wants to help with the relief efforts, pray with them! It's not just about sharing Jesus with those in the Gulf coast....there are plenty of people living among you who need Jesus and the peace of Him which surpasses all understanding will guard your heart, their heart and mind. You know the scripture. And if you don't, read Phillipians, read Corinthians, read James.

Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to pray. But it's the easiest way to help. When I was in Metarie, some very sweet ladies from New Orleans were there getting tetanus shots. I asked them what to tell all of those people in California who want to help, what was the one thing we could do for them. Their answer was simple: Pray for us. They then went on to tell me how they couldn't believe us coming all the way there to help them. You see, that gets me to my next idea God is telling me to tell you....

GO. Go to God and ask Him, not others, how you can help. Don't rely on the advice of others, (another scripture), go to God w/ all your questions. He'll call on you faster than the Red Cross, Salvation Army, UGO4GOD-Lori-who-never-answers-her-phone (!). Go to God. Go to Him with your worries, your needs to DO SOMETHING and give Him your questions. Open your ears, open your eyes, open your heart. Just GO2GOD. Next....

GIVE. Give your heart today, to Jesus. You want to help in the Gulf Coast? Give your heart to the Lord, the giver of life. If you do this right now, today, before you scroll down to see what "really" you can give below (don't bother, this IS the real thing you can give)....give your mind, your body, your soul to the Lord.

It's free. It takes about two minutes. It doesn't cost anything and it's the best thing you can give. Your heart, your mind, you. That will help the people in the Gulf more than another box of diapers, a walmart card, a pair of shoes or even a box of new tshirts. I know this, because I was there. They needed all of things I could give them physically, but even with a full shopping cart of items they reminded me that all those things will go in an afternoon but since they have Jesus, they're filled up with everything they need. Those people in the Gulfcoast want you to be filled up. They want you to know about the God that they believe in so much that they don't feel without. Sure, times are hard on them, they are homeless, they are desperate for food and water and medicine. But time and time again they told me, they have God so they know they will make it through.

They openly praise God and they have hope. They actually prayed for me?! They prayed for my friends and I who were down there, that the Lord would protect us. They thanked God for us and for their lives that were being saved. Give your heart to God, so that when there is a hurricane or an earthquake or a broken relationship, no money or no gas, no water or things seem really bad, you can rely on God for hope. If you don't know how to do this, email me. Call me, blog it. Just give.

PRAY. GO. GIVE.
Love,
Lori
