Anthony and I joined the RAVEN Calpoly team; Logan, Lauren, Jonathan, Kenneth, and Josh from RAVEN Santa Barbra this weekend to preach the good news of Jesus.
Last night when we got there, we visited the campus' Intervarsity SLO. We worshiped, and then took our seats... As testamonies were going on, we had our bibles open reading over scripture...(not even out loud) The word of the Living God.
"All scripture is God-Breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." -2 Timothy 3:16-17
A staff member came over to Lauren on our team, and whispered to her that we were being disruptive and disrespectful having our bibles open because the flipping of the pages was too loud.. Wow! Within a couple minutes, a different staff leader came over to Logan and Josh and told them to close their bibles. Josh respectively told him that he wasn't going to close his bible, and asked him why we couldn't have our bibles open in a Christian Fellowship. It seems like a legit question right??? You'd think you would be able to read your bible freely, especially at a church event... But no, the page flipping was too loud? How loud is turning a page in a bible?
When the staff member had come up to Logan and Josh, they decided to go outside and talk, and at that point Anthony, Lauren, and I decided to join them.
We changed the conversation around to how the two staff leaders were doing with the Lord, and the girl admitted that she was Lukewarm, and was okay with it. The man said that he was in sin and seemed to be okay with it. As the lady was admitting that she was lukewarm it was as if she was quoting:
21-23"Knowing the correct password—saying 'Master, Master,' for instance— isn't going to get you anywhere with me. What is required is serious obedience—doing what my Father wills. I can see it now—at the Final Judgment thousands strutting up to me and saying, 'Master, we preached the Message, we bashed the demons, our God-sponsored projects had everyone talking.' And do you know what I am going to say? 'You missed the boat. All you did was use me to make yourselves important. You don't impress me one bit. You're out of here.' Matthew 7:21 (The Message)
Its heart breaking to have heard the conversation going around in circles, and as we used scripture to rebuke the 'leaders' they told us to stop, and kept interrupting. As they wouldn't let Josh share his testamony of how he came to the Lord!!
We were all heart broken and wept for their souls outside the Intervarsity meeting, after we were told we weren't welcomed back in...
"These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men. You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men." Mark 7:6-8 (NIV)
We then got the cross and stood outside the building, as the Intervarsity people shuffled the congregation out the other side of the building to shield their eyes from the cross. We were then kicked out of being outside, and looked down on because we were younger and in their eyes didn't know as much scripture as they did..(as it says clearly in the word that no teacher is above the student, and no student is above the teacher). As they quoted scripture that wouldn't make sense with anything they were talking about, we were told to just "ponder" it ourselves... Its so sad that people are so deceived... Wake up so called "church"!
Later that night we hit the streets and talked to many people and warned them of the danger that they were facing if they didn't turn from their sin, and kept living for this world out on Hathway (party street in SLO). It was a great night, and we praise God that the Lord's word doesn't return void, and that's what we spoke! Lord, we cry out for our generation!
Looking forward to what the Lord will do tonight, can't wait for He will be magnified. Don't know what we are going to do yet, but the Lord will determine our steps.
"In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps." Proverbs 16:9
Keep us in your prayers!
