Saved by Grace

We had an amazing trip to San Francisco's Tenderloin tonight.   Once again, God's perfect timing and plan was in evidence from the start.  For some reason the back seat was in the church van, which is usually out.  Well, God filled up those extra seats just how He wanted.  i am always just as amazed at His greatness as i was the first time He ever amazed me.  We had a great team with 5 blessed newcomers, Sue, PJ and Jose, and Pastor Mike and Pam met us in the City, making it 15.  Thanks team for giving of yourselves tonight, it was a joy to serve with you.  See you on September 8th...:)

The City was very strangely quiet when we got there.  We found out that the police had rousted the homeless earlier in the day.  It was almost erie, the absence of people.  But we did not have to go far and we ran into God's children everywhere.  You know, it really is not about the food we bring or the clothes, or water.  It is about the prayer and the connection to the love of God that we bring to these hungry, homeless and sometimes dying people.  Souls were saved tonight and hearts were broken (mostly ours), we prayed over people with alcohol and drug problems, hiv and aids infections, and just generally lost souls.  God sent His Holy Spirit into our midst and we shared Him.  God sent us to these lost children of His and we went.  We don't want them to die unwarned or unprayed for.  We want them to get their hearts right with God.  We want them to be saved.

Please pray for Rick who was saved tonight.  Also pray for Jay, Jessie, Chuck, Neeshelle, Joe, Lisa, Kurt, Chandra and all those homeless men, women and children on our nation's streets and in our world.  While there are still homeless on our streets we will continue to take Jesus to them.  This we are committed to do.  Amen.

Thanks to all who donated, put toiletries together, and stood with us in prayer.  Thanks Hope, for the van.  We so appreciate your support and can't tell you how much your prayers mean to us.  Thanks, we love you.

Next trip is SEPTEMBER

Next trip is September 8th. (i pushed the wrong button before i was through) i titled this blog saved by grace because i was thinking about the saying "there but for the grace of God go i" and i couldn't help but think of all the souls i met tonight, each one just as entitled to God's gift of grace as i am, no less, no more. Some of these people have received God's free gift of grace but are on the street just the same. God's grace is not about whether you are homeless or not, or facing crisis or not. It is not some magic ticket to a perfect or better life. deb
